A Doctor and a Doula Walk Into a Delivery Room...

Happy World Doula Week!

In the 4th day of the

WDW Blog Challenge,

professional doulas everywhere are talking about how they are building bridges between their support and the expertise of nurses, midwives, and obstetricians. Is your doula going to badmouth your OB on Facebook, cause tension in the delivery room, or make you feel like you made a poor judgment call when picking your care provider?

Not if you hire a Wichita Doula!

We love your care team and treat them with courtesy and respect. We're always glad to help you figure out the right questions to ask to make sure you're with the perfect doctor or midwife for you, but we will never undermine your voice or sow seeds of distrust between you and that person.

At Wichita Doula we don't see your doctor and nurses as adversaries to protect you from, lest they jump in and tear up your birth plan while cackling! We are honored to be a part of your care team, allowing the medical staff to do their jobs while we do ours. (We have constantly been delighted by the fantastic obstetricians, midwives, and nurses we've had the pleasure of working with!) We also recognize that the system of maternity care we currently have is not very individualized,

so we do our best to help you remember your voice, your options, and how to ask the right questions to get the experience you desire.

We strive to uphold and cultivate an environment of mutual respect, care, and appreciation for your medical team, in each and every interaction.

That's how Wichita Doula is building the bridge right here at home!
