Wichita Doula's Annual Diaper Drive 2018
It's about that time of year again! During the entire month of May, Wichita Doula will strive to raise thousands of diapers to be distributed to local families in need. From May 1 - 31, local businesses all around Wichita and surrounding areas will compete to raise the most diapers. Vulnerable babies are counting on our help!
DID YOU KNOW?
- 1 out of 3 families struggle to afford diapers for their babies
- There are no government benefits, such as food stamps, helping low income families buy diapers
- Daycares require a certain number of diapers – if the parent can't provide them, they can't go to work and get caught in a vicious cycle
- Babies ought to be changed about six times a day (at least) for healthy, rash-free bottoms
- Many vulnerable moms and babies may not have access to facilities to wash reusable diapers, and cloth diapers are not allowed at laundromats
- Diaper rash can cause blistered skin and uncontrollable crying, which could push a stretched-thin caregiver to the edge
We are angry and heartbroken that there are so many parents in our city having to choose between food and diapers, and that little ones aren't able to be changed when wet or poopy.
Because CLEAN AND PLENTIFUL DIAPERS SAVE LIVES, Wichita Doula joins together with other local businesses to help make a dent in this great need. DIAPER DRIVE IS FROM MAY 1 - 31, 2018!
