No Child Wet Behind 2017: Event Recap
Wichita Doula and Cameron & Herrman, P.A. are excited to recap the successful No Child Wet Behind event that took place at Sedgwick County Park, Wichita, on May 14, 2017!
It was a beautiful cool and slightly windy morning in Wichita for the 35 runners, 17 vendors, 10 staffers, and FOUR THOUSAND DIAPERS COLLECTED!
Race timing services were provided by The Timer Guys, and our photos are from the official event photographer, Furr in Focus Photography. Tents and tables were provided by Wichita Event Rentals, and printing was provided by Adeas Printing.
Doulas give back, and doulas get stuff done! Left to right - Rachel, Sofia, Janell, and Sara from the Wichita Doula team worked hard to successfully run the No Child Wet Behind event along with the rest of our amazing, generous volunteers and sponsors. As doulas and parents, we all strongly believe in the cause of making sure babies have enough clean diapers.
Presenting co-sponsors Wichita Doula, the leading provider of professional and skilled labor and postpartum doulas in the Wichita area, and Cameron & Herrman, P.A., experienced family and trial lawyers, came together to change things for babies in need with this event.
Dr. Rachel Viner, DC, family chiropractor in Andover, KS specializing in prenatal and pediatric, also sponsored No Child Wet Behind and hosted a booth.

Blue Baboon Books, Wichita's only mobile bookstore, was a big hit with their fun bookmobile offering a great selection of new books.

The 5K started promptly at 8:00 AM. Thanks to our check-in volunteers, everyone was ready and had been provided their bib, swag bag, and official No Child Wet Behind t-shirt!

The 1 Mile Family Fun Run started at 9:30 and was a great opportunity for families with young children to enjoy a race! Many families even brought little ones in strollers to enjoy the run/walk.
We could not have pulled it off without our sponsors, volunteers, vendors, diaper collectors, and all those who gave of their time or energy or product or service toward the mission of keeping babies dry and safe. Because of our efforts, there are some families out there who won't have to choose between diapers and food this paycheck, and some babies who won't suffer diaper rashes this week. The Changing Wichita Diaper Bank filled a truck with all of the diapers brought to the race!
We will continue to collect diapers throughout the year both independently and with other events and businesses in the community.
Our next big thing is the Wichita Baby Gala - an upscale evening baby fair event connecting parents and parents-to-be with resources for their pregnancy, birth, and baby. You will enjoy the finest pregnancy related vendors Wichita has to offer, educational presentations, mocktails, cake, and fabulous prizes! Admission is free - as long as you bring a pack of diapers to donate to the Changing Wichita Diaper Bank!
